ARTS Park N’ Lot
ARTS Park N’ Lot is a 4,800 square foot gathering space that transformed the back parking lot to an outdoor classroom and gathering space. This project was part of the Creating Vibrant Neighborhoods Initiative spearheaded by A Reason to Survive and the Pomegranate Center.
The Park N’ Lot was designed and built with ARTS staff, residents and youth involved in ARTS programs over the course of 4 months. The design focused on flexibility so that walls could be adjusted and moved to create private enclosures or more open spaces for larger group events.
Studio Nectary’s role as project manager (while a contracted designer and project manager for Rooted In Place), was to work collaboratively with residents, lead artists, city employees and private contractors to implement the design as envisioned by the community. After weeks of prep work, the project wrapped with a four-day community build.
